My Family Photo Shoot - Highwoods Country Park Colchester

You may remember me saying that I planned to put my family though a photo shoot in order to show you some examples of a session taking place in Highwoods Country Park in Colchester. This weekend in between lots of rain showers we wandered up there and discovered a lot of mud!

Hopefully the park will dry up in the month between now and when I plan to hold my weekend of photo shoots! If not I'm planning on changing location to the beach, and even thinking of doing one day at Highwoods and one day at the beach. I'll just have to see what the preference is with you all when you book up!

To find out more about family photo sessions taking place on March 26th and 27th (which are only £70 and ready for Mothers Day!) click here.

So onto my family photo session:

Ben fell over within the first 10 minutes...

Closely followed by mum!

I set the tripod up so I could be in a picture,

and I'm surprised no one fell over here to be honest!

Just a shot of the mud...

I don't have middle child syndrome or anything, but he's definitely the favourite!

Book your own family session by e-mailing me at kerrie@kerriemitchell.co.uk the £70 sessions are for one weekend only, So be quick!

My Week In Pictures...

I'm ill today and writing this is hard work. I couldn't believe that on a day like today I'd have to cancel a shoot, but I just couldn't function! The weather this morning was gorgeous too and would have been perfect for Gemma's teen shoot. I'm excited to get hers done, so when its rescheduled I plan to make it as amazing as possible!

I did manage to take some pictures of my family this weekend and will be blogging tomorrow so you can see how a family shoot at Highwoods will look. I'm planning a whole weekend of family photo shoots on March 26th and 27th, so make sure you book your slot for some pictures in time for mothers day!

You may have seen that this week I was featured on Photo Night Live in a interview alongside the lovely Emma Case. We spoke about creating opportunities for yourself in photography. I'll also be blogging more about this next weekend. :)

Hannah & Jack - Teen Representatives 2011 - Elmstead Farm Photo Shoot

Hannah and Jack opted to have their teen photo shoots together, and it took place on their aunt and uncles farm in Elmstead Market. Lucky for us we got chauffeured around in attempt to avoid the mud. Which was fine for a while until we went off the beaten track slightly and had to walk so the car didn't get stranded in mud.

Hannah's feet ended up covered and she got slightly grubby from laying on trees, Jack ended up with corn everywhere! But luckily you can't tell from the pictures...

Hope you both like the pictures :)

Mothers Day Family Photo Sessions

I've been getting a lot of enquires about family portrait sessions recently. I don't have a studio space, nor do I carry backdrops or lighting equipment to bring the studio experience to you. (plus I think it's limiting and a bit boring!) So instead I've been thinking about how I can best maximise my time to fit in lots of family sessions at a reduced rate all in time for Mothers Day.

Here's the plan.....

On Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th of March I will be offering 45 minute photo shoots for families at Highwoods Country Park in Colchester, Essex. There is no limit to the amount of people for these photo sessions, just bring along the family, children and even your dogs for a fun photo shoot walk.

Highwoods has plenty of areas to explore, open fields, a lake and dense woodland so it will provide a beautiful natural backdrop for your photographs. We'll start off from the Visitors centre and follow the paths around the woodland, I'll take pictures as we walk and make sure we stop in pre-planned areas for the all important big family picture. For the rest of the session, I'll capture you in action walking, talking and playing with your family, occasionally taking some of you aside for extra pictures.

The main aim of these photo shoots is that you can all be yourselves and have fun, I'll only be posing you for the main picture and the rest of the time I'm there to capture you being yourselves around each other. Highwoods, is perfect for this. There are lots of areas for the children to run about and I even think the mud will add to the photographs! (bring wellies!!) It's a perfect little day out in the fresh air!

Address of Location: Highwoods Country Park, Visitors Centre, Turner Road, Colchester, CO4 5JR

(photos from Colchester Borough Council website)

Included in these photo sessions are;

- A 45 minute photo session.
- A password protected gallery for you to view your images.
- A 15 x 10 mounted and framed image of your choice. (in a light wood or white wood frame)
- The same image on CD for you to make further copies from or use online.
- Between 20-30 fully edited and enhanced pictures in my usual style for you to choose from.

After your photo session I'll edit between 20 - 30 photographs from your photo shoot and upload them into a password protected gallery. You can then choose one image to be printed in 15x10 size framed and mounted. (this is included in the price of the photo session along with the same image on CD for you to make further copies from) you then have the option to purchase further prints but you are under no obligation to buy if you do not want to.

Your photo session, framed print and image on CD is all included in the price of £70 (normally worth £150)

Photo sessions will start at 10.00am on both days and are by appointment only.

I'll have some example images up to show you at the weekend as I'm planning on putting my own family through the process to find the best parts of the woods to use!

If you are interested email me at kerrie@kerriemitchell.co.uk and we'll get you booked in!

My Week In Pictures...

A lot of this week has been in preparation for next week. I have a BIG photo shoot coming up on Wednesday that I have been preparing props for and roping my family into helping me get organised. I'm really hoping for a dry day so that it can all be pulled off. On top of that I spent most of my time getting bits and pieces sorted for my website, sending out the first lot of the teenage representatives cards and editing the gorgeous shoot of Toyah and Nick. Today I also photographed two more teenagers, so that will be edited and posted next week!

It's been a bit of a slow week, but looking back a pretty productive one. Next week however is looking to be quite hectic and I also have a great promotion coming up too :)
