Kerry O'Brine Womenswear Autumn/Winter Collection 2011.

You may remember the sneak peek I posted a couple of weeks back now of Kerry O'Brine's Autumn/Winter collection that I had the opportunity to photograph.

This was my first return to studio photography since leaving cruise ships, and the studio photography on ships was really nothing creative! So I was a bit apprehensive about the shoot incase I'd just have forgotten everything!

Luckily though I hadn't, we decided to use just one light and keep the lighting simple. We'd been looking through some workwear editorials the morning of the shoot and loved the ones that showed some shadow and definition. Working with just one light meant we could achieve this look easily and just move it around the model to create different effects.

This is Kerry's first collection, and we were all smitten by it! It's made me think that I need a job to dress up for like this!

We worked with a fantastic team on the day who all made the look we achieved so perfect.

Kerry O'Brine Womenswear - Sneak Peek

Yesterday I had a brilliant opportunity to shoot the sample pieces of Kerry O'Brine Womenswear's Autumn/Winter collection. This was my first step back into studio shooting since leaving cruise ships, so I was a little worried that I'd have just forgotten how everything worked. Luckily it all fell into place and we got some absolutely gorgeous results. I couldn't resist a sneak peek....

I'll be blogging the whole shoot very soon and some behind the scenes action too. Thank you to the fabulous team who all worked really hard to make these images beautiful!

What I Wore Wednesday - 02.03.11

I'm addicted to fashion blogs, I love looking through the posts of bloggers who showcase their outfit choices. Most of the time it just makes me envious that I can't afford the clothes they have! But sometimes I also find myself a little inspired to try to re-work items already in my wardrobe.

I get really inspired by editorials in fashion magazines. It's often where I draw ideas from for posing subjects, and although I try not to pose people too much sometimes I meet someone and just know that that particular pose is going to look amazing in photographs, with what they're wearing and where they are. I can't resist it!

I'm going to try out a new feature on this blog called 'What I Wore Wednesday' and I'm basically going to post pictures of myself in an outfit I particularly liked from the previous week. I plan to share with you where the clothes are from, why I liked it and where I wore it. I don't think I'm amazingly fashionable but every now and then I do pull an outfit together that impresses me! It will also give me the chance to have a bit of practice at self portraiture, and learn what its like to be in front of the camera for once.

I advise everyone (ok, maybe just the girls?!) to go and read blogs by Keiko Lynn, The Vintage Valley, Lookbook and Weardrobe as some of these people do this for a living, and are obviously much more style-savvy than I am! You'll be addicted in no time. (And if anyone knows of some others I should be subscribing too leave me a message in the comments!)

So if you're interested here is what I wore the other day. I was only popping into town to meet with a business advisor and talk over my business plan. Sometimes it's just nice to put on some clothes that make you feel good, because all this working from home lark means some days I just hang about the house locked to my laptop in my jeans and a hoody!

Dress: Tu at Sainsburys
Belt: H&M
Cardigan: Next
Leggings: H&M
Boots: Peacocks

(oooh I'm such a bargain hunter!!)

Next time I'm going to try and look less moody in my pictures... ;) Let me know if you like this blog feature, I'm a bit worried about posting it to be honest! I know it's not too focused on photography but sometimes I just have to indulge my girlie side!

Assisting Carlo Nicora - London Lingerie Shoot

On tuesday 18th on January I had the opportunity to tag along and assist Carlo and Fabiana Nicora on a lingere photo shoot in Battersea, London. I've never assisted on a photo shoot before, and Carlo and Fabiana made me feel really welcome from the moment I walked in the door. They were also happy for me to take some images for myself which I'll soon be adding to my portfolio.

Below are some behind the scenes images I took throughout the day;

Hair and make up was provided by Gabriella and Csaba from Karda Beauty

Carlo and Fabiana were both very open and informative about the techniques they were using. For the most part Carlo was shooting with a ring flash whilst Fabiana shot with natural light (because of those huge windows!) or using a softbox. I really appreciated the chance to see them using lighting creatively, before now the only lighting experience I've had has been very regimental. By that I mean that the light has always been metered and the distances measured from the subject, I really liked the laid back attitude they had by just adjusting it when necessary by looking at the results in camera, rather than metering for each shot.

Models were Hayley and Sabine from Girl management and styling was provided by Natalie from Natalie styles.

Below are three shots I've chosen to include in my fashion portfolio. I've tried a different kind of processing on these images and given them a vintage-y effect. I usually shy away from the vintage style because I love colour and hate to desaturate my images too much. However, for these I think the effect works really well. I used Pioneer Womans photoshop actions, which are free so be sure to check them out!

Fashion - Natalie, Rachael & Anna

Some new fashion images have been added to my website today.

A little behind the scenes action on the last one, Anna stood with a fan between her legs and Natalie crouched behind her for quite a while to achieve the photo above. Wasn't the warmest shoot I've ever done.

I also  now have my Facebook Fan-page live. So make sure you pop along a take a look.
